HISTORY: “ASSOCIACAO DE SOCCORROS MUTHOS EMPREGADOS NO COMMERCIO DE LISBOA” (“Mutual Aid Association of Employees in Trade in Lisbon”), home based in Guimaraes, Portugal, provides medical, nursing, and health resources for expectant mothers, new moms, and their babies.
OBVERSE: The obverse shows a seated Mercury, resting a caduceus across his right arm. A 16th century ship sails in relief upon the stone seat.
REVERSE: The reverse indicates that this medal was presented as a dedication for a special event, with a laureate wreath encircling the background.
