BURT REYNOLDS NUDE CENTERFOLD, 1973

M032

1 oz .999 Silver Ingot Bar

5 cm x 3 cm (1-15/16” x 1-1/8”), 32 grams

HISTORY: Whether it is Hercules, Apollo, or Mercury posing on our coins, both ancient and contemporary, these are the gods that endure. Others are added as time goes on, and perhaps in a Hollywood sort of way, this is another. Cosmopolitan magazine interviewed Burt Reynolds (1936–2018) for their April 1972 issue and talked him into a (first-of-a-kind male, nude) centerfold shoot. He is lying on a bearskin rug, smoking a cigarillo. This rendition of the centerfold was minted by Arlington Coin Galleries (ACG) in 1973. Interestingly, ACG only made one other silver bar before dropping out of minting, and it was, ironically, the Lord’s Prayer!

OBVERSE: Burt Reynolds in the Cosmopolitan magazine pose.

REVERSE: Triangular arrowhead-shaped design. The ACG logo is in the lower right corner.
