HISTORY: Majer (Max) Fleischer (1883‒1972) was an early pioneer of animated film. In addition to creating Betty Boop, Fleischer also brought the animated cartoon characters of Popeye and Superman to life. In 1930, Betty Boop was introduced in the black-and-white theatrical cartoon Dizzy Dishes. Produced by Fleischer Studios and released by Paramount Pictures, Betty Boop was featured in 90 cartoons between 1930 and 1939, becoming one of the best-known and most popular animated characters in the world.
