HISTORY: Lucius Memmius, and later Achaicus (143 BC), Roman general and statesman, led an army (146 BC) to successfully overthrow and plunder Coriinth.

OBVERSE: Male profile facing right, wearing oak wreath, a value mark beneath his chin for “XVI.”


REVERSE: The twin Gemini brothers, Castor and Pollux, standing in front of two stallions, each holding a spear. The exergue is possibly “L.MEMMI” (“MMI” clearly visible).
