65 x 55 mm (2-1/2 x 2-1/8”; 48 mm diameter disk), 55 grams
OBVERSE: The image on this medal is a rendition of the classical Roman sculpture of two Spartan wrestlers down on the ground. The empty space below ground level would be engraved with the name of the winning recipient and the date. However, that space is blank on this medal, so it is assumed that it was never awarded. The medal is encircled by a laurel wreath, spot welded to the central disk. No reference is made to either the sculptor or date, but it is in the popular style of late 19th and early 20th centuries.
REVERSE: The reverse is blank, obviously never meant for any purpose. However, the center appears to have had a pin welded to the medal, now broken off, to be worn on the chest.
